Medicare and Mental Health Care Plans

Please be advised that there are no Medicare rebates available for Counselling under the current Mental Health Care Plan. Individuals can only obtain a Medicare rebate through seeing Psychologists, Occupational Therapists or Social Workers by referral from a GP.

Psychologists are trained to work within the medical model and can provide you with an assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan - much like a GP. Counsellor’s do not provide you with a diagnosis.
